2025 Employee of the Year

Every year, HIREDuxbury recognizes one outstanding student employee who goes above and beyond — demonstrating initiative, teamwork, and a genuine love of learning through work.

This year’s Employee of the Year is Gavin McDermott, hired through HIREDuxbury by Levitate.

When Pat Cullen, Hiring Manager at Levitate, nominated Gavin, his enthusiasm was unmistakable:

“Gavin is an all-around all-star. He shows up ready to give 100% every single day — whether he’s washing dishes, helping customers, or mentoring campers at Skate Camp.”

From day one, Gavin brought energy, curiosity, and a can-do attitude to every task. After his very first shift, he reportedly said, “This is the best job I’ve ever had!” That enthusiasm set the tone for everything that followed. Whether supporting the kitchen team or encouraging younger skaters, Gavin made everyone around him better.

“He gives every task and every person his all — coworkers, customers, or campers. He’s just a tremendous person,” Cullen added.

Gavin’s leadership and positivity have rippled beyond his job description — creating a space where both staff and campers feel valued, supported, and inspired to show up as their best selves.
