Getting the Most Out of HIREDuxbury

Whether you’re heading to the HIREDuxbury event or exploring opportunities online, there are plenty of ways to make the most of what’s here for you. Think of this as your game plan — a few simple moves to help you show up confident, curious, and ready to connect.

At the Event

Dress business casual — first impressions count.
You don’t need a suit, but a clean, put-together look shows you’re taking it seriously.

Know your schedule and availability.
Before you arrive, talk with your parents or guardians about family plans, transportation, and other commitments so you can confidently discuss your work availability with employers.

Bring your resume (if you have one).
If you don’t, no problem — Talent Managers can help you brainstorm what to include in a future version. Every experience counts, from volunteering to babysitting to school leadership.

Be open-minded.
Stop by every table and chat. Even if something doesn’t seem like your dream job, it’s great practice — and you might find something that surprises you.

Remember, everyone feels nervous at first.
It’s totally normal. Listen to how other students introduce themselves and ask questions. You’ll find your rhythm quickly.

Come with friends.
Exploring the event together can make the experience more fun — and you’ll learn from each other along the way.

Check the website for updates.
New job and volunteer opportunities are being added to the HIREDuxbury site every week, including direct links to employer applications. Keep checking back as listings continue to grow.

Spread the word.
Share HIREDuxbury with at least five friends or classmates. You never know — you might help someone find their first job or volunteer role.
