DSU is a non-profit youth development organization, providing innovative and highly engaging after school programs and special events to the young people of Duxbury to expand their skills, relationships, and experiences.
DSU is hiring After School and Camp Assistant Group Leaders who can lead the charge in making our programs unforgettable! You’ll be the heart and soul of our activities, camp days, and special events, igniting learning in social, physical and academic settings.
Your Mission:
- Be a leader, mentor, and advocate for third to eighth-grade students during after school activities, camps, and special events, creating an exciting, inclusive and accountable model that promotes teamwork, creativity, and collaboration
- Communicate and foster relationships with staff, students and parents
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to develop weekly program ideas and execute them.
- Show your tech wizardry by using tools and resources to amp up the entire learning experience.
- Facilitate outside and inside games and activities for up to 13 students.
- Perform administrative and end of day tasks daily.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skill Set required
- Teach/Coach – Ability to teach activities with passion, in small and large groups (academics, sports, creative arts, outdoor pursuits, music, etc.
- Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Speaking/Writing — Talking, texting and emailing with accuracy to others to convey information effectively and appropriately.
- Initiative – Must be able to read a situation, or see a need, and take the lead to manage it independently
Experience and Education Requirements
- Demonstrated experience working with youth in families, camp or tutoring type environments
- High School Diploma or Associate’s/Bachelor’s (Preferred) or in-process.
Remuneration
- Part-time position, up to 4 shifts per week. You will have time to chase your other passions!
- Salary starting from $17.00 per hour for Assistant Group Leader and $18 per hour for Group Leader. Pay is commensurate with education experience.

You’ll be required to pass a Background Records Check, including CORI, SORI and fingerprinting. Employees required annual CPR/First Aid recertification and mandatory EEC Training prior to employment in youth development.
Job Type: In Person, Part-time Schedule: Monday to Thursday, (1:30pm-5:15pm) up to 14 hours with additional hours available on camp days, evenings and weekends or when needed.
